Marjan Stone's Journey of Innovation and Excellence: A Glimpse of The NARI Event

Marjan Stone, under the visionary leadership of CEO Hikmet Pauls, recently hosted a significant event in collaboration with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). This gathering not only served as a platform to discuss future collaborations but also provided an insightful retrospective into the company’s substantial growth and its pioneering advancements in the stone industry.

From Baghdad to the Heart of San Diego: The Story of Resilience and Ambition

Hikmet Pauls, a civil engineer by training, founded Marjan Stone in 1987 in Baghdad. Despite a challenging environment, his firm initially focused on producing concrete blocks and terrazzo tiles, popular then for roofing. The early days were marked by basic machinery and manual labor, but Pauls’ drive for improvement was evident even then.

By the early ’90s, Marjan Stone had expanded from a single factory to five and from no showroom to two prominent showrooms in downtown Baghdad. The company grew its staff from 20 to 160 employees, demonstrating significant growth and potential. However, due to escalating regional instability, Pauls made the difficult decision to relocate to the United States in 1998, where he would eventually reestablish Marjan Stone.

Rebirth in the U.S. and Technological Transformation

Restarting in Santee, California in 2004, Marjan Stone was initially a modest setup. But with persistent effort and a keen eye for technological advances, Pauls transitioned the workshop from semi-automatic to fully digital and robotic systems by 2015, a first in the Western U.S. This leap in technology not only enhanced precision in stone cutting but also positioned Marjan Stone as an industry leader.

Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

In 2012, the company took a significant step towards environmental sustainability by switching its cutting processes from dry and dusty to a wet system. This change drastically reduced dust emissions, underlining Marjan Stone’s commitment to a healthier, green workplace. This pioneering move garnered positive feedback and set a new standard within the industry.

New Ventures and Future Aspirations

Looking to the future, Marjan Stone has embraced new opportunities, such as an exclusive partnership with an Italian company to distribute Laminam products in San Diego. This move not only diversifies their product offerings but also reinforces their position as a trendsetter in the market.

Additionally, Marjan Stone has recently announced promotional strategies, including significant discounts and guarantees that underline their confidence in their operational efficiency and customer satisfaction commitments.

Closing Invitation by the CEO

At the close of the event, CEO Hikmet Pauls warmly invited all attendees to explore Marjan Stone’s extensive online inventory. This gesture highlighted the company’s commitment to accessibility and customer engagement, making it easy for clients to view and select from their high-quality stone products at their convenience.

Conclusion: A Leader Shaping the Future

As Marjan Stone continues to set benchmarks in the industry, Hikmet Pauls remains a figure of inspirational leadership. His story from a small workshop in Baghdad to leading one of the most innovative stone companies in the U.S. is a testament to resilience, vision, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Marjan Stone’s journey illustrates a blueprint for future innovations and sustainable practices in the stone industry, promising exciting developments for years to come.
